To share the joy of summer reading, the Illinois Lottery recently partnered with WITS to sponsor the WITSummerbooks program. Since learning can sometimes “take a back seat” to other activities while school is out of session, the Illinois Lottery hopes to encourage young people to incorporate reading into their summer fun through their support of the WITSummer Books program.
“The mission of WITS aligns perfectly with the goals and objectives of the Illinois Lottery. We are pleased to support this organization because it makes possible the opportunity for willing adults to share their time and talents to enhance education for children. It is such a noble cause and it will have a long-lasting impact on many children individually and the State of Illinois as a whole.”
– B.R. Lane, Director, Illinois Lottery
Established in 1979, the Illinois Lottery was built on the purpose of raising funds for education as well as other causes in the State of Illinois. Since its inception, the Illinois Lottery has provided entertainment and excitement for Illinois adults while contributing $18 billion dollars to school funding, building infrastructure, supporting medical research, veteran’s affairs, and the Special Olympics.
